If you are planning a marble fountain for a garden, villa, estate, hotel, resort, or commercial landscape, one of the first questions is usually:
How much does a marble fountain cost?
There is no single standard price.
A custom marble fountain can range from a relatively simple two-tier garden fountain to a monumental project combining large basins, architectural structures, human figures, horses, lions, relief carving, and multiple water features.
Based on YouFine’s commonly produced fountain designs and previous project quotations, custom marble fountains can start at around US$2,900 for smaller and simpler designs, while large statue fountains may reach US$50,000-65,000 or more. Monumental architectural fountain projects can exceed US$100,000 depending on their scale and complexity.
This wide range is normal.
A 2-meter garden fountain and a 9-meter sculptural fountain may both be called “marble fountains,” but the amount of stone, hand carving, production time, and structural work involved can be completely different.
The best way to understand the price is therefore to look at the actual design, dimensions, marble, and carving requirements.
Why Is There No Standard Price for a Custom Marble Fountain?
Unlike a mass-produced decorative fountain, a hand-carved marble fountain is normally made according to a particular design and size.
A simple tiered fountain with smooth bowls and limited decoration requires much less stone and carving work than a fountain featuring life-size human figures, horses, lions, cherubs, shells, floral reliefs, or architectural columns.
Even two fountains with similar overall dimensions can have very different prices.
The main factors that affect the price of the marble fountain itself are:
- overall diameter
- overall height
- number and size of tiers
- marble type
- quantity of stone required
- statues and figurative carving
- carving complexity
- structural complexity
- custom design requirements
For this reason, YouFine normally prepares a quotation according to the actual fountain rather than applying one fixed price.
Typical Marble Fountain Prices by Project Scale
The following ranges are based on common YouFine fountain designs and previous project quotations.
They are intended as general factory-price references, not fixed selling prices.
| Fountain Type | Approx. Size / Scale | Typical Factory Price |
|---|---|---|
| Small Tiered Garden Fountain | Around 2-2.5 m | US$2,900-US$7,500 |
| Medium Villa Fountain | Around 2.5-3 m | US$5,000-US$10,000+ |
| Large Estate Tiered Fountain | Around 3-4 m | US$7,000-US$19,500+ |
| Medium Statue Fountain | Around 4-5.5 m | US$14,000-US$25,000+ |
| Large Statue Fountain | Around 5-8 m | US$22,000-US$50,000+ |
| Monumental Estate / Hotel Fountain | Around 8-10 m+ | US$45,000-US$65,000+ |
| Monumental Architectural & Figurative Fountain | Large custom project | US$50,000-US$100,000+ |
| Landmark-Scale Custom Fountain | Fully customized | Quoted individually; some projects can exceed US$100,000 |
These ranges should only be used for early budget planning.
A heavily carved 5-meter fountain with several figures may cost more than a larger but simpler architectural fountain.
International freight and local installation are normally calculated separately.
1. Overall Diameter Has a Major Impact on Marble Fountain Cost
For many fountain designs, the bottom basin diameter is one of the clearest factors affecting price.
A fountain with a 2-meter basin and a fountain with a 4-meter basin are not simply the same product enlarged proportionally.
As the diameter increases, the project may require:
- more marble
- thicker basin sections
- larger stone blocks
- additional stone components
- wider water bowls
- larger central structures
- more workshop space
- more handling and trial assembly work
Large basin sections may also need to be divided into several pieces so they can be carved, packed, transported, and installed safely.
Based on common YouFine designs, smaller fountains around 2-2.5 meters may fall between approximately US$2,900 and US$7,500, while larger fountains around 3.5-4 meters may range from approximately US$7,000 to US$19,500 or more.
This is why overall basin diameter is one of the first dimensions we ask for when preparing a fountain quotation.

2. Fountain Height Also Changes the Amount of Stone and Work
Height is another important factor, but it should not be considered alone.
A taller fountain may require:
- larger central columns
- larger upper bowls
- heavier upper components
- larger statues
- stronger internal connections
- additional decorative elements、

However, a relatively narrow 3-meter-high fountain may still cost less than a lower but much wider fountain with a large basin and extensive carving.
This is why YouFine normally evaluates the complete proportions of the fountain rather than charging according to height alone.
For estate, hotel, and resort projects, proportion is especially important.
Increasing the height without adjusting the basin and bowl sizes can make the fountain look visually unbalanced.

3. The Number of Tiers Affects the Price
Tiered marble fountains are among the most popular designs for villas, estates, hotels, and formal gardens.
Adding another tier generally means additional:
- water bowls
- central columns
- carved moldings
- water outlets
- stone connections
- assembly work
A simple two-tier fountain will usually require less work than a three- or four-tier fountain of a similar style.

However, tier count alone does not determine the price.
A simple three-tier fountain may still cost less than a highly decorative two-tier fountain with several statues and deep relief carvings.
4. Marble Type Can Change the Quotation
Natural stone selection also affects the cost.
Marble is a metamorphic stone whose mineral composition contributes to its natural colour and veining. These variations are part of the material’s character, so a named marble should not be expected to have an identical pattern in every block.[1]
Different marbles vary in:
- raw material price
- availability
- block size
- color consistency
- veins
- carving suitability
- wastage during production
White marble is one of the most popular materials for classical fountains because it works well for detailed carving and traditional architecture.
Beige and warmer stones are also commonly used for Mediterranean villas, château-style gardens, resorts, estates, and architectural landscapes.
For very large fountains, material selection becomes even more important because the project may require multiple large stone blocks with reasonably consistent color and veins.
Some customers also request a particular stone so that the fountain coordinates with existing paving, walls, columns, stairs, or exterior stonework.

5. Statues Can Increase the Price Significantly
A fountain made mainly from bowls and columns requires a very different level of work from a fountain incorporating major sculptural figures.
Common fountain sculptures include:
- classical female figures
- Neptune or Poseidon
- cherubs
- angels
- lions
- horses
- dolphins
- fish
- mythical figures
- custom human figures

Human and animal sculptures require much more hand carving, especially around:
- faces
- hair
- hands
- anatomy
- muscles
- garments and drapery
- feathers
- fur
- movement and pose
- facial expressions
For this reason, a statue fountain may cost substantially more than a simple tiered fountain of a similar footprint.
6. Carving Complexity Can Matter More Than Size
This is one of the most important points when comparing marble fountain prices.
Two fountains can both have a 3-meter diameter but have very different production costs.
A relatively simple fountain may include:
- smooth water bowls
- basic moldings
- plain columns
- limited decoration
A highly detailed fountain may include:
- acanthus leaves
- floral reliefs
- lion heads
- shells
- scrollwork
- cherubs
- human figures
- animal sculptures
- deep relief carving
- architectural ornaments
Each additional detail requires more carving time.
Deep relief and figurative carving are especially labor-intensive because the sculptor must create depth, shadow, movement, and realistic detail while working within the natural structure of the stone.
Traditional stone carving progresses from rough shaping to finer chisel work, followed by smoothing and, where required, polishing. The V&A’s guide explains these distinct stages of working marble and other stones.[2]

This is why a photo or drawing is much more useful for quotation than simply asking:
“How much is a 3-meter marble fountain?”
The design can affect the price as much as the dimensions.
Five Typical Marble Fountain Price Examples
The following examples make the differences easier to understand.
Example 1: Small Garden or Courtyard Fountain
A relatively simple fountain may have:
- approximately 2-2.5 m overall diameter
- two or three tiers
- standard white marble
- simple carved moldings
- limited figurative decoration
Typical Factory Price Approximately US$2,900-US$7,500
The lower end generally applies to smaller and simpler fountains, while larger or more decorative 2.5-meter designs can move toward the upper end.
Best suited for:
- private gardens
- villa courtyards
- patios
- residential landscapes
- smaller entrance areas
A fountain in this category does not need elaborate carving to create a strong visual effect. Correct proportions and an appropriate basin size are often more important.

Example 2: Medium Villa or Estate Fountain
A medium fountain may include:
- approximately 2.5-4 m diameter
- three or more tiers
- larger bowls
- decorative moldings
- lion heads or carved water outlets
- limited sculptural elements
Typical Factory Price Approximately US$6,000-US$19,500
A relatively simple three-meter tiered fountain may sit closer to the lower-middle part of this range.
A larger 3.5-4 meter fountain with more detailed carving may approach US$15,000-19,500 or more.
Best suited for:
- villas
- mansion courtyards
- formal gardens
- estate entrances
- larger residential landscapes

Example 3: Medium Custom Statue Fountain
Once a fountain includes major human or animal figures, the pricing structure changes.
A medium-size statue fountain may include:
- approximately 4-5.5 m overall width
- one or several large figures
- horses, dolphins, lions, or classical human sculptures
- architectural columns or arches
- deep relief carving
- decorative bases
Typical Factory Price Approximately US$14,000-US$25,000+
For reference, one custom figurative fountain measuring approximately 500 × 450 × 400 cm was quoted at around US$22,300.
Another smaller version of a figurative wishing fountain, approximately 426 × 350 × 280 cm, was around US$14,000.
These examples show why statue fountains should not be compared directly with simple tiered fountains of a similar size.

Example 4: Large Statue Fountain for an Estate or Hotel
Large statue fountains combine water features with several major sculptures.
They may include:
- 5-8 m overall diameter
- multiple life-size or larger figures
- horses or mythical creatures
- large carved basins
- complex bases
- extensive relief carving
- architectural structures
Typical Factory Price Approximately US$22,000-US$50,000+
For example, a large custom fountain with an overall diameter of approximately 5.3 m and a height of around 5 m was quoted at approximately US$22,700-24,300.
Larger 6-meter designs may reach approximately US$30,000-35,000.
Projects approaching 8 meters can reach around US$50,000, depending on the number of figures and overall complexity.
Best suited for:
- large estates
- hotels
- resorts
- château gardens
- formal entrances
- commercial landscapes

Example 5: Monumental Hotel, Resort, or Landmark Fountain
At the largest scale, the fountain becomes both an architectural and sculptural project.
These designs may include:
- 8-10 m or larger overall diameter
- large sculpture groups
- architectural colonnades
- monumental central structures
- extensive relief carving
- several water basins
- multiple large figures
- custom composition for the site
Typical Factory Price Approximately US$45,000-US$65,000+ for many large custom projects
For reference:
- some fountains around 8 m diameter have been quoted at approximately US$50,000
- fountains around 9 m diameter have been quoted at approximately US$49,000-57,000
- other large 9-meter designs have reached approximately US$55,000-65,000
More complex architectural fountains can rise significantly beyond this range.
Some very large custom designs measuring approximately 4-6 m high and 8-13 m wide have been quoted from roughly US$51,900 upward, while highly customized monumental projects can exceed US$100,000.
These projects should always be quoted individually.

Quick Marble Fountain Budget Guide
For early planning, custom marble fountains can be roughly divided into four budget levels.
US$3,000-10,000 Smaller and medium-size tiered garden fountains.
US$10,000-25,000 Larger estate fountains and medium-size fountains with sculptural elements.
US$25,000-65,000 Large custom statue fountains for estates, hotels, resorts, and commercial landscapes.
US$65,000+ Monumental architectural fountains, large sculpture groups, and landmark-scale custom projects.
These ranges are only intended for initial planning. Final pricing depends on the actual design, marble, dimensions, and carving requirements.
Why Statue Fountains Cost More Than Simple Tiered Fountains
The difference is not simply because statue fountains are larger.
A statue fountain adds another major production component:
sculpture.
Creating realistic figures involves additional work on:
- anatomy
- facial expressions
- hair
- hands
- garments
- animal structure
- movement
- interaction between multiple figures
Complex projects may also require additional design development before carving begins.
For multi-figure fountains, the sculptural work can become one of the largest parts of the production cost.
This is why a 5-meter statue fountain may cost significantly more than a relatively simple 5-meter tiered fountain.
Fountain Price vs. Total Project Cost
It is important to separate the factory price of the marble fountain from the total cost of completing the project.
The fountain quotation is mainly determined by:
size + marble + design + carving complexity
Customers should then consider several additional project expenses separately.
International Shipping
International freight normally does not determine the factory price of the fountain itself.
It is calculated separately according to:
- destination country
- destination port
- inland delivery distance
- packed volume
- total weight
- number of crates
- container requirements
Large fountains may require several reinforced wooden crates and significant container space.
For this reason, the delivered cost of a 4-meter fountain can be noticeably higher than its factory price.
However, international freight rates change over time and vary by destination.
YouFine therefore recommends calculating shipping according to the actual project rather than publishing one permanent freight price.
When comparing quotations, also check the agreed delivery terms and which transport, insurance and customs-related responsibilities each party is taking on. Incoterms provide a framework for allocating these tasks, costs and risks; they do not establish the selling price of the fountain.[3]
For an accurate estimate, the customer should provide the destination country and ZIP or postal code.
Local Installation Is a Separate Project Cost
Installation also normally does not change the factory price of the fountain.
However, it should be considered when planning the total project budget.
Depending on the fountain size and installation site, local costs may include:
- reinforced foundation preparation
- lifting equipment
- crane or forklift access
- local labor
- plumbing work
- electrical work
- final assembly
- site finishing
A smaller garden fountain may be relatively straightforward for an experienced local contractor or landscaper.
A large multi-tier or statue fountain usually requires more preparation and suitable lifting equipment.
YouFine can provide basic assembly and installation references according to the fountain design, while local labor and equipment costs are normally arranged by the customer.
Pump and Water Circulation System
The pump and circulation system should also be considered separately from the carved marble fountain itself.
Pump selection depends on:
- fountain height
- number of water outlets
- desired water flow
- number of bowls
- circulation distance
- overall water effect
The pump system does not normally determine the main price of the carved marble fountain.
It is better considered as part of the overall fountain project planning.
For pump sizing, the required flow rate should be assessed together with total system head, including elevation and losses through pipes and fittings. The pump’s performance curve needs to suit those operating conditions, rather than being selected by its maximum flow rating alone.[4]
Can an Existing Marble Fountain Design Be Resized?
Yes.
Many customers start with one of YouFine’s existing fountain designs and adjust it for their own site.
Common changes include:
- overall diameter
- total height
- number of tiers
- bowl dimensions
- statue size
- marble color
- carving details
However, resizing should maintain reasonable proportions.
For example, increasing only the fountain height while keeping the lower basin too small may make the fountain look narrow and visually unbalanced.
For larger custom projects, we therefore review the overall proportions rather than simply enlarging every component by the same percentage.
Is a More Expensive Marble Fountain Always Better?
Not necessarily.
The best fountain is the one that suits the site.
A highly detailed statue fountain may work beautifully at a large hotel entrance or château garden, while the same design could overwhelm a small residential courtyard.
Likewise, a simpler tiered fountain can look elegant in a villa garden when the proportions, stone color, and architecture work well together.
The goal should be to find the right balance of:
- size
- marble
- carving detail
- architectural style
- installation setting
- budget
More carving does not automatically mean a better result.
What Information Do You Need for an Accurate Marble Fountain Quote?
You do not need professional architectural drawings to begin.
A reference image is usually enough for an initial discussion.
For a more accurate quotation, send YouFine:
- a fountain photo or design you like
- approximate overall diameter
- approximate height
- preferred marble color
- any statues or special carving requirements
- destination country
If you are not sure what size is suitable, you can also send photos and approximate dimensions of the installation area.
Our team can then discuss the proportions and prepare a more project-specific quotation.
